“I was lucky enough to have a big pond at our old house where these Kingfishers were frequent visitors. I loved watching them diving into the water to catch tiny silver fish, then they’d sit on the closest bare branch for a time before diving in again. There’s nothing quite like the turquoise feathers of a Kingfisher, and they’re a favourite of mine to paint.” – Alex Louisa

Australian artist Alex Louisa’s work focuses on the elements of the natural world that grab her attention. She works mainly in oil, watercolour, charcoal and PanPastel creating wildlife, still life and landscape paintings, but it is birds that absolutely have her heart. Her first word as a child was “bird,” and she has been enamoured with the creatures ever since.
