In the land of curious creatures, even vegetables have feelings. This mandrake root has found itself at the wrong end of a very excited kitten’s cutlery. Equal parts charming and unsettling, this piece peeks into a fairy tale moment gone slightly sideways.

Po Yan Leung is an Asian American artist based in Los Angeles. She holds a Bachelor of Art in Illustration from ArtCenter College of Design. Her current practice is heavily inspired by alchemy and lullabies, focusing on two-color pen and ink drawings with occasional gilding embellishments. Po strives to create whimsical storytelling with magical adventures and fantastic creatures on paper that speak to the child in all of us.
