About the Artwork:
“Blue Opulence is my first attempt at a monochrome pallete, completed using Parisian Blue. The effect a monochromatic pallete gave, was the freedom to focus on the tonal core of the piece. The piece embodies a kind of stoic beauty with elements of ephemeral and melancholia. In person, the effect of using both gouache and watercolor in tandem gives the piece a kind of velvety matte texture.” – Jason Mowry

Inspired by the stories he reads, and the people and times that surround him, Jason’s work blends myth, personal narrative, and symbolic imagery to speak to the larger collective narrative. Jason grew up between the art museums and comic book shops, combining the rhythms of each to walk the line between formal art and the fantastic. Jason calls Ohio home where he keeps a studio.
