About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Xavier Ortiz (1987) is a slightly classically trained, but mostly self taught, watercolor artist from Sacramento, California. He studied classic animation at the Academy of Art University and then didn’t go into animation. Instead, he tells stories through fantasy and dark art in traditional watercolors. His paintings often convey internal conflict through color, nature, silhouettes, and body language. He is inspired by his love of history, movies and film photography. For the past five years he has worked on album covers for indie musicians, a few illustrations for Sideshow Collectible’s Court of the Dead, and participated in various group art shows. His painting “Manacle” was chosen to be included in the upcoming Volume 8 art book by Infected by Art. Xavier is just getting started and can be found on social media under the avatar, BUILTFROMSKETCH (one word).
