About the Artwork:

“I recently read an article entitled, ‘Bees Get Anxious and Octopuses Feel Pain.’ We as people don’t often publically express our emotional anxiety similar to how a lot of animals can’t cry out in pain. We all do our best to go about our daily lives, taking care of our homes, and protecting what we love. Underneath it all is the daily stress of the world around us yet we venture on each day. I focused on using a more monochromatic honey comb color to connect the visuals.” – Patrick Maxcy

About the Artist:

Patrick Maxcy is a painter, muralist, illustrator and adventurer known for his whimsical, animal-centered work. His paintings tell stories of nature, wildlife and humanity’s relationship with it.

Patrick first found inspiration for his work in the ocean near where he grew up. That love of sea creatures and the shore can be found in his work alongside the moodiness and greenery of the forest with land animals both big and small. Patrick’s art is heavily inspired by his travels throughout the world. His paintings juxtapose playfulness alongside more serious detailed symbolism. The work he creates explores child-like wonder and curiosity sparked by the experience of being a father.

With a professional career spanning almost two decades, Patrick has painted murals all over the U.S. as well as South America and Africa. His fine art paintings can also be found at galleries throughout the country. Patrick has done work for numerous organizations including The Audubon Nature Institute, Muhammad Ali Center and WildAid. When he’s not traveling painting murals, Patrick is creating canvas work and illustrations in his studio. He is always looking for inspiration for his next work through nature and adventure.
