About the Artwork:

The Kraken, in Norse mythology, was a giant sea monster with the appearance of a huge octopus or squid. It is believed to have roamed the seas between Norway and Iceland and was feared for pulling down ships.

Kirsten Schaap (@kirsketchbook) is an illustrator living and working in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Her work revolves around introspection, darkness, contrast and raw emotion- fear, loss and decay are recurring themes in her work. She mainly works in black-and-white and her work is drawn by hand using a stippling technique, which enables her to bring depth, texture and layers into her work. She is inspired by nature, mythology and science fiction.
