About the Artwork:
“I’ve been meaning to get to this drawing for a while. I originally drew the central ‘figures’ about 10 years ago. There was something about the expression of the figures that I felt drawn to, a feeling of nurturing and peace. The shapes were based on a tiny detail from a plate from Ernst Haeckel’s Artforms in Nature, depicting Siphonophorae, a kind of jellyfish. I drew a garden around the figures, finding inspiration for the shapes of the plants from several of Haeckel’s stunningly beautiful illustrations.” – Catriona Secker
