About the Artwork:
We know there are other worlds beyond our own system. We have seen them. But we haven’t seen much of them because they are so far away. There is one world inhabited by the Cuokray which is especially distant and its beings have been trying to contact us for a very long time. Their signals of shimmering thought have been sent and I have received them. They want to be friends.
Such is a possible scenario behind my painting of Cuokray. A small shiny being in a log; unassuming, yet immensely powerful, which the other inhabitants adore and which has the ability to radiate goodwill amongst the stars.
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
The world is a lot stranger than you think. You can also think of a much stranger world than you can see.” That is what I told myself as I began to write this. It is also a maxim I have put into practice as an artist since about 2010. But why only since then, you ask? What about all the other fifty or so years before that? Well, the truth is, I am a rather pragmatic fellow, and after my years of experimenting in art school, the thought of continuing to make a whole lot of large cumbersome paintings of bizarre images that seemed to have little chance of selling anywhere around where I lived seemed crazy. So for years, I enjoyed simply painting landscapes and portraits. Then in 2010, I had the thought that making weird paintings wasn’t crazy at all. In fact, it would be crazy not to paint the most fun, bizarre, engaging and exciting images I could come up with. I have been trying to do so ever since.
