About the Artwork:

“My painting ‘Erupt’ is a simple one. Childhood favourites that have followed me to adulthood. Dinosaurs + Fluorescence = my happy place. Even with the impending danger in volcanic form!

I’ve recently been enjoying some older paleoart and wanted to mix in that style of retro illustration. The more upright Tyrannosaurus stance but with a modernised head. A bright and fun palette to contrast the brutality of the Late Cretaceous period.

Although this painting takes place in this world, it feels very Otherworldly. It’s interesting (for me) to think about how unrecognisable and extremely wild our very own home would have been long ago.” – Kane Kokaris

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Kane Kokaris is a self-taught artist from Gold Coast, Australia. His paintings are imaginative, stylised and often dark. Influences vary from nature and wildlife, to tattoo culture. He looks to partially tell a story within each composition, giving creatures a dreamlike world of their own. Although most tales are seemingly ill fated, capturing the beauty in the darkest of moments is his main desire. Exposing viewers to images which evoke their own symbolic meaning and encourage them to let their imagination run free.
