About the Artist:
When Martínez Cánovas (Murcia, 1980) was a child he wanted to work on something related to animals. It was at the age of 17 that he realized that drawing or painting could be a profession.
Currently finishing the PhD in Fine Arts, there are two main techniques with which he feels comfortable. One is drawing and the other is oil. If you had to choose one, maybe you would choose drawing, since you feel quite comfortable with the fact that things can come out as you had planned beforehand. With oil, it’s not always the same.
For him, Art is a vocation and a way of life. He does not consider it a hobby, because it does not stress or relax him. “When it becomes your job it’s hard, but then the satisfactions are what keep you going.”
Rather than a transgressive type of art, he prefers it to be natural and not imposed. If his style were a personality trait it would certainly be patience.
Some of the adjectives with which he would define himself are: introspective, noble, sure of his convictions, but indecisive when it comes to choosing an option. In the professional field, he describes himself as demanding, detailed, symbolic, surrealist and a craftsman.
