About the Artwork:

“This painting was inspired by a drawing that my son made when he was three. Maybe not everyone would agree with me, but in my opinion, kids make some amazing abstract art! My son’s drawing was like a swirling vortex of lines and made me think of a doorway or portal exploding with raw energy. It sums up his personality really well; my husband and I often joke that our son is a force of nature. This was an interesting one to paint as I usually draft a new piece down to the smallest of details before beginning to shade or paint, but with this one I just painted the landscape and a patch of black, then freely painted in the organic forms using my son’s drawing as a guide.” – Catriona Secker
