About the Artwork:
Christian Flora combines the past with the present and still pays gratitude to the traditional way of paiting in regards to the old masters. His remarkable technique in fine arts, his interest in portrait painting and above all a jest of surrealism defines his current artistic approach. His paintings display unknown shadow figures from the past and combines them with ordinary or symbolic items of daily lives and rituals. He creates a room with different kinds of hidden meanings and untold stories, but still leaving the persons dignity and personality untouched.

Christian Flora was born in Klagenfurt/Carinthia in 1972. He studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna, master classes Prof. Wolfgang Hutter and Prof. Wolfgang Herzig. Furthermore he attended the postgraduate study in copper and steel engravings, master class Prof. Herbert Just. In the early years he was was influenced by the fantastic realism as well as H. R. Giger, but with the time he developed his own figurative approach and imagery.
