About the Artwork:

I revisited Afternoon at the Villa for the revival theme—a piece that holds a special place in my journey. The original featured my very first ornate gilded hat, a creation that set me on the artistic path I follow today. Reworking this painting has been both a test of how far my skills have grown and a celebration of my enduring love for crafting these intricate hats.

Jenna Wing-Hu is an oil painter based in Ohio specializing in portraits of dream-like women adorned with ornate hats and opulent headpieces, lending them a sense of eminence. The size and material of the hats seem heavy but the elegant and weightless way the figures wear them represent the inner strength and confidence of a woman, as well as add to the otherworldly feeling the scenes depict.
