About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

I was born in the city of Quilpué, Chile, on February 15, 1990. From an early age I had the need to express ideas, which were generally done with graphite pencil. I studied at the Playa Ancha University of Valparaíso; from which I graduated in 2012. From that moment I began to venture into various pictorial styles and aesthetics, which over the years took various forms, from photorealistic representation techniques to later moving towards a form of expression in that the development of each work is revealed as a journey with an uncertain destination.

I soon realized that for me it is not possible to fully express the creative impulse if it is expressed through representation, so I made the decision not to use reference images, therefore, the option was to integrate forms of memory into memory. interest, such as human anatomy, organic and inorganic structures, and also lately, references from traditional cultures.

Some of my artistic references are Flemish painters such as; Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, Rogier van der Weyden, Francisco de Goya and then by artists such as Roberto Matta, Beksiński and HR Giger.

There are two fundamental aspects in my current work, the body and the formations. The first is always a represented or phenomenal body, in no case am I talking about the material body, rather it is a visual metaphor for the constant flow of qualia that comprises it. This body is a channel through which the subjective point of view we call self is manifested. The second element is formations, which refer to mental phenomena such as ideas, feelings, visions, etc. I understand these as a substance or background, which is shaped by the rhythmic patterns of thought expressed through the technique. Thus subject and background sustain and emanate from each other in a constant game from which I try to get to know myself.
