About the Artwork:
“This illustration is inspired by a road I routinely traveled this summer for a job in the next town over. It’s one road in, and one road out. After driving through dense forest along both sides of a straight road for several miles, you’re suddenly met with a sharp left turn that puts you at the base of the majestic Ko’olau mountains. A little blue house is the first thing that welcomes you into the sleepy town of Waimānalo.” – Kate Wadsworth
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Kate Wadsworth was raised on the beautiful east side of Oahu, Hawaii, where she currently lives as an illustrator and graphic designer. She spent several years living on the East Coast where she received her BFA in Communication Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond – a multicultural city that strengthened her interest in figurative art and urban sketching. Equally inspired by the natural world, she loves to experiment with bold colors, exaggerated shapes, and purposeful line work to tell stories with subtle but deliberate symbolism. While Kate often works digitally with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, she especially enjoys using acrylic paint, paint markers, and coloured pencil.
