About the Artwork:
This painting blends whimsical imagery with deeper themes of misunderstanding and misperception. A small devil figure sits with rats which are more endearing creatures rather than the usual symbols of disease and decay. I wanted to emphasize the importance of looking beyond the surface to understand the true nature of others. – Hanna Jaeun

(Artist Bio)
Hanna Jaeun is a former long-time Brooklyn-based painter. She is now based in Los Angeles. Her work is often categorized as dark art or lowbrow art. She mainly works with acrylic paint on wood panel. She loves the smoothness of wood which allows for greater detail. Drawing inspiration from the macabre, childhood memories, and her love of animals, her work explores themes of alienation, vulnerability, and the yearning to belong. She feels honored to have had the opportunity to exhibit internationally and across the US, including Beyond Eden Art fair, SCOPE art fair at Miami Basel, the L.A. Art Show and various galleries.
