About the Artwork:
My original painting, Preserve Habitat, is a reminder of the ephemeral nature of life, the ever present reality of death, and coming to terms with one’s own mortality. With an overall message of preserving the magical, life giving, wild spaces surrounding us while were are here for this short time. We are all connected, memento mori. – Caia Koopman
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Caia is a California native with a BA from UCSC where she majored in fine art. She mostly works in acrylics on wood panels but is also interested in mural painting. Caia’s figures are intentionally situated in colorful dreamlike worlds of their own making. A staunch devotee to environmentalism, and second-generation conservationist, loving the environment and acutely aware that humanity is dangling our planet over a dangerous flame of pollution and misuse, nature is woven into the fabric of her images and there is a connectedness between her figures and their environment.
