About the Artwork:
“Imagine a setting that reminds you of a private section with a psychologist, only differences are the room is extremely narrow it almost became a corridor, also the one in front of you is not an old wise man certified to psychoanalyze and hypnotize you, but an angel. Cold as stone, solemnly looking at you straight in the eye and they invite you to a glass of rose wine – the most ancient known wine, crushed by the bare feet of young maidens. The wall behind them slowly opens, revealing the dim lit night sky.
The angel image is portrayed after the original marble statue Angelo Reggicandelabro by Nicolo dell’Arca at the Basilica of San Domenico in Bologna. It is one of the 2 candle-holders that guard the sarcophagus of San Dominico, the other one was made by Michelangelo.” – Phuong ‘Jacquell’ Nguyen
About the Artist:
Phuong Nguyen is a painter from Vietnam who currently lives and works from Bologna, Italy. Her works suggest a gentle melancholy with grace and beauty. She believes that the life of a painting should be infinite and uses selected behaviours from the wild to convey the human condition and the emotions that surround it. Realistic with a hint of the surreal, her pieces are created using watercolours.
