About the Artwork:
“In my current series we follow a kid by himself exploring a dystopic future that usually comment or jests about society and politics.
This piece is actually inspired by the title of the exhibition. ” Stardust Antennas ” And Carl Sagan’s Golden records.
In 1977 the Voyager was sent out to space carriyng Carl Sagans ‘Golden records’ – Gold covered fonographic plates. The plates contained pictures and soundbytes about the diversty and culture of Humanity. A shout of excitement, identity and optimism into the could harsh empty void.
In this universe I have created ‘The kid’ is alone and the world has changed – What it means to be human has changed. In front of the kid we see the crashed voyager that has returned back to earth after it’s long voyage, along with a broken spaceshuttle.
Did they collide ? Something controlled by humanity vs. the human spirit and optimism. Whats left is spacedust and antennas.
This also is a take on the more recent news regarding the worlds billionaires travelling to space but lets leave that at that!
The original will be painted on acrylic on canvas and then varnished with a gloss satin.” – Christophe Siel
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
SIEL is a danish artist, born in Denmark in 1988.
He spent his early childhood in Stockholm, Sweden, before his family moved to Frederikshavn, Denmark, where he then grew up in a small town setting, close to the sea, beaches and forests.
At the age of 17 he moved to Viborg, Denmark to study animation, but left to pursue a career in traditional art, experience and adventure.
This resulted in 4 years in Spain, 2 Years in London and 2 Years in Florence.
After 8 Years living, working and travelling abroad he then returned back to Denmark where he currently lives and works out of Aarhus.
Working with mixed media, Siel is both a analogue and a digital artist, taking advantage of the best in both worlds.
You will often find a storyline in his different series exploring either new worlds or personal growth and as a viewer you are quickly engaged and drawn into his universe.
He uses storytelling to engage his audience and even though his art takes you to distant worlds, you will find strong references to current and relevant issues facing the world today.
Lately his work has been exploring the consequences of living in the anthropocene age, taking us on a walk through the world we’re risking to create.
