About the Artwork:

“When making illustrations, I often enjoy keeping the narrative private. I let the viewers create their own storylines around the painting. But I’ve made an exception to that for this piece. “Let the Old you Rot.” With one of my previous pieces a crab is moving a found jawbone. Now that same crab has molted and is watching severed fingers drifting down to the ocean floor. Here I am contemplating leaving parts of me behind, like an old shell. Fingerprints are often used to identify a person and these discarded fingers are signifying the old identity that has been abandoned.” – Sarah Pinner
