“I first had an image in my mind of a girl with a black object splat on her head. From there, I painted two of my favorite animals, cats and rats. This, then, became a playful childhood game of Cat and Mouse as well as the deception and negativity involved with ‘playing cat and mouse’.” – Hanna Jaeun

Hanna Jaeun is a Los Angeles based artist. She received a BFA in Apparel Design at the Rhode Island School of Design. After some soul-searching, she finally decided to pursue her dreams of becoming a painter. She now works with acrylics on wood panel. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories, and her love of animals and horror movies, her work explores themes of alienation, vulnerability, and the yearning to belong.
