About the Artwork:
‘In Absence’ reflects on the power of what’s missing. The figure seems to be grappling with the absence of something or someone from their world. The figure seems lost in thought, with something or someone absent from their world. The empty space around suggests that there is meaning and weight even in what’s not there. It reminds us that absence can be more impactful than presence at times and that unspoken things can be just as expressive.
