About the Artwork:

Pause— Thoughts Coming Through

These are the sudden gush of thoughts in our head when we least expect them. They may be good, intrusive, negative, inspiring, triggering. They come and go as they please. They demand pockets of space and time in our mind for them to run through. They may come during silent moments of our day: while we sip our morning coffee, that moment when we just closed our laptop to call it a day, or those minutes before we fall asleep. In the silence of those moments it allows us some introspection, where we can observe these thought as they pass by. Maybe we can pick some lessons from them, or use them to better know ourselves.

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Cheryl Owen was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Major in Advertising Arts in 2009.

Cheryl’s works are watercolor paintings that are inspired by the great outdoors, the Divine Feminine, and the human psyche. She weaves her imagery with a touch of symbolism that speaks and connects to the viewer on an intimate level. Cheryl’s depiction of portraits and bodies intertwined with elements of nature and scenic landscapes explores the relationship of humans and nature in modern times. Through her visuals she suggests that the metaphors of the natural world are teachings that could guide us on our journey back to our personal truth and towards spiritual rebirth.

Cheryl now resides with her husband and four cats in Batangas City. If she is not working in her studio, she could either be seen jogging outside, spending time with the cats, repotting her plants, or camping in the nearest mountain with their friends.
