“First came the image of the ‘fly curtain’. It struck me one afternoon and I had a strong urge to create the image immediately on canvas. What I did not know was what would be revealed behind the curtain. The mystery of that unknown path inspired the scene of the three ‘Abecedarians’ setting their attention in three directions before going on the lighted path leading out.” – J. L. King

Jennifer L. King was born into a large artistic family in San Francisco, California. Her early exposure to this lifestyle may have quelled early professional pursuits in the arts though never her practice. Ultimately, and many milestones and mediums later, she committed to oil painting with sharp focus detail becoming a lifelong endeavor. She spotlights ordinary objects in extraordinary perspectives with a blend of trompe l’oeil techniques and surreal elements. King practices her art professionally from her studio in San Francisco, California.
