About the Artwork:

‘Lovers’ Daydream’ captures a moment of vulnerable reverie—a woman suspended between memory and desire. Cradling a jewelled moth in her hand, she holds the delicate embodiment of her lover, drawn to her like a moth to a flame. The moth is not only a symbol of longing and devotion but also of inevitable fragility—its wings shimmering with the weight of intimacy.

Embroidered flowers stitched directly into her skin evoke the dual nature of love: exquisite beauty entwined with pain. The threads suggest both adornment and wounding, echoing how intimacy leaves its marks—sometimes gentle, sometimes scarring. Her expression, soft and distant, suggests a dream that oscillates between comfort and ache.

By merging portraiture with symbolic embellishment, this piece explores the entanglement of emotional connection, physical presence, and the quiet toll of yearning. It invites the viewer to inhabit the stillness of a private, tender moment—where the lover’s touch is felt even in absence, and beauty exists inseparably from pain. – Georgia Loring

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Based in Tasmania, Australia, Georgia Loring’s work delves into the delicate interplay between intimacy and vulnerability, exploring the raw, unfiltered emotions that arise when we strip ourselves bare—physically, emotionally, and metaphorically. Through sensual imagery and tactile elements, she aims to illuminate the spaces where connection and exposure intersect, revealing the marks love leaves behind, both tender and bruising.

By embracing themes of desire, fragility, and human connection, her art invites viewers to confront their own experiences of closeness and risk. It is a meditation on the courage it takes to be seen, to love, and to hurt. Vulnerability is not weakness but a profound act of strength, a surrender that forges intimacy and reminds us of our shared humanity.

Georgia was a Beautiful Bizarre Emerging Artist finalist in 2023 and 2024. Her work has been in gallery shows including Metamorphosis Gallery, Perth Australia and Nanny Goat Gallery, California USA.
