About the Artwork:

Game over. With no coins remaining, the player is left with two choices: Quit or ‘Play Again?’. This piece explores coping mechanisms that often become distractions and the opportunities presented when faced with failure to create, to produce, to provide. As the sun sets in the distance a personal reflection is occurring, a binary of choices. This time we’ll try again.

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Jonathan Espinoza-Perez is a classically trained artist, having earned a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts with a specialization in oil paint from the American Academy of Art in 2020. A Chicago native with roots en la Ciudad de México, Jonathan’s most recent work explores his own memories, cultural histories, thoughts, experiences, past-lives, and current life through a spectre-like guide. His fascination with the abstract and subconscious has manifested into a curious skull spirit that walks both worlds. Jonathan has exhibited in Chicago and New York, and continues to create works meant to be experienced.
