About the Artwork:
“Simmer is a state just below boiling point. It is a metaphor for quiet rage, a shadow aspect of personality that norms lead us to disavow and repress. To live outside and free of those socially acceptable models is considered ‘monstrous’ because it requires revealing of self’s emotional blind spot. The drawing is made in dark tones and set in vintage frame under the glass referencing a scrying mirror. It intends to give the viewer an opportunity to try on the shadow simmering in their own reflection in the portrait.” – Rim Baudey
