“The title, ‘Wanna Play?’ was taken from the Showtime series Dexter. Devilishly cute is what I wanted to create in this image. As in both humans and animals, our temperaments are complex. A dog’s lick can easily turn into a bite as a child’s laugh can turn into a cry.” – Claudia Griesbach-Martucci
About the Artist:

Claudia Griesbach-Martucci was born in Monmouth New Jersey, 1990. She attended the School of Visual Arts undergrad in 2008 and went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in 2012 under the program ‘Illustration as a Visual Essay’. Claudia has worked as painting assistant for Jeff Koons for 4 years, and now is currently working out of her studio in South Street Seaport Manhattan.
(Artist Statement)
The subjects, landscapes, and narratives I choose to paint are a direct influence from the things I enjoyed in my childhood. The house I grew up in sits on one of the highest points in New Jersey, which shares the same hill as a castle-like lighthouse from the 1800’s. I didn’t have a lawn where I could kick a soccer ball around, but my playground became the old lighthouse and the elaborate gardens my mother designed on all four sides of our home.
