About the Artwork:
“This piece was inspired by a japanese folktale titled ‘The Singing Bird of Heaven’. I’ve always found folktales inspiring and thought provoking; they may seem simple but they usually have a lot of depth and meaning. This one in particular is rich in visual elements. The quintessential struggle between heaven and earth is depicted by the characters and their actions which, ultimately, lead to a tragic but beautiful ending and I wanted that ending to be the focus of my piece.” – Diego Peñuela
