About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Shailinn Messer is an emerging artist currently residing on the eastern shore of Maryland. She earned her BFA at Tuft’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts after studying psychology. In addition to her art education, Shailinn has also pursued an education and career in botany and floristry, both professionally and as a passionate hobbyist. Her artwork is a collective product of her extensive plant collection and personal musings; combining intimate and fragmented portraiture with exotic and unbelievable foliage to create surreal dreamscape style oil paintings. The results are unearthly paintings that bridge the gap between the human experience and the natural world, and blur the line between fantasy and reality.
