About the Artwork:

“Lately I’ve had reoccurring thoughts on paintings that revolve around beastly creatures that have god-like influences, yet are capable of death and decay due to human presence. Similar to the gods in Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke. There’s a sense of beauty and sadness when a creature as majestic as a tiger for instance, slowly decays back into the earth. With its own body brings nourishment to the environment around it yet its own physical presence disappears forever. But this is just the way life is. The world continues to flourish through the death of creatures within it.” – Ama Absolute

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Ama is an American pop-surrealist artist currently residing in Chico, California. She is most recognized for her stylized blend of cartoon realism dipped in shades of vibrant pastel gouache. Ama enjoys playing with the juxtaposition of color and concept, often masking heavy thoughts and emotions behind soft hues. Having ethereal women as her focal point, she harmonizes them with both the beautiful and bizarre creatures of her universe.
