About the Artwork:

“Conservation and consideration for the natural world are always on my mind, and as such this piece was inspired by the persistent problem of oil spills affecting our land and water. The ecosystem, while able to survive the aftermath of a spill, is forever stunted. Humans are often able to ignore the underlying problem when selectively observing the beauty nature still has to offer, thus developing a complex relationship with this issue. I wanted to present indicators of unhealthy oily water whilst putting emphasis of the magnificent ibis, who in itself represents the splendor and fragility of the natural world.” – Corinne Reid
