About the Artwork:

“Watch out for the Bubble Gum Queen! Do not be deceived by her innocent and jovial appearance, as she is astute and evil as the most merciless emperor.”

I have a fascination with the monarchy and its characters, which reveal curious stories and peculiar personalities. In this context, I recreate the image of the Queen with some satire and humor, bringing certain timeliness to a representation that is already familiar to the public. – Paul Neberra

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Paul Neberra is an artist from Lisbon, Portugal.

Always divided between Arts and Science he decided to study Design at IADE-Creative University. In 2004, the year he gained his diploma, he begun working as illustrator for children’s magazines.

Between 2006 and 2007 he worked in a small advertising agency and after that, he found a teaching post at a Lisbon training school.

He dedicated the next 5 years teaching graphic software, always creating illustrations, mostly using a digital process. In 2013 he definitely dedicated as a whole time artist.

His pop surrealist paintings give hint to his influences with inspiration ranging from surrealist painters such as Dali and Magritte to writers like Kafka and Dostoevsky – not to mention contemporary pop culture icons like The Twilight Zone. The world he weaves can be deemed as charming with a touch of melancholy and satire. Smaller details within his pieces paint a picture of emotional complexity.
