About the Artwork:

“This piece shows Yogi the dog in a garden with a figure that may be part myself, part spirit guide, welcoming him to his new home in the endless wilds of the brush. The sequence of blooming flowers nods at the passing of time and perhaps the fragility of life itself. We can look back at one’s life at different stages and remember significant moments. That’s how I remember Yogi and others in my life who have passed away. I don’t focus on the last days, but instead look at their entire life lived and the moments we shared together.” – Michael Koehler

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Michael Koehler was born at the stroke of midnight in the wilds of South Western Pennsylvania. While exploring the ancient rust realm he unearthed a tome filled with long forgotten relics. A narrow brush, finely ground pigments, and a book made from the petrified remains of an old fir tree. Michael brought the materials together to create a world thriving with wizard cults and gangs of fantastic and surreal creatures. By painting them, he gives them life and sets them free to explore, build homes, cause trouble, make art, work, fight, play games, create and worship gods, and develop into whatever creature they choose.
Michael pulls influence from various folklore, mythology, natural systems, and human behaviors. He works primarily in gouache, acrylic, and digital mediums.
