About the Artwork:

“As humans, we experience fragility time and time again. From our work and personal relationships, to our hopes and dreams. Even some of the toughest people would break down to the point of giving up when faced with roadblocks, problems, or even critical words from other people. We put up an armor and act tough, but deep inside, we are soft and fragile. My artwork is about the fragility of the human spirit and how it would either make or break us. We are like flowers that would wilt and dry out in harsh conditions. And for a while, it will seem like it would be the end of things. But like the flowers that grow during their season, we would also have our own season to bloom again and regain the passion for life that was once lost.” – Cheryl Owen

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Cheryl Owen was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Santo Tomas with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Major in Advertising Arts in 2009.

Cheryl’s works are watercolor paintings that are inspired by the great outdoors, the Divine Feminine, and the human psyche. She weaves her imagery with a touch of symbolism that speaks and connects to the viewer on an intimate level. Cheryl’s depiction of portraits and bodies intertwined with elements of nature and scenic landscapes explores the relationship of humans and nature in modern times. Through her visuals she suggests that the metaphors of the natural world are teachings that could guide us on our journey back to our personal truth and towards spiritual rebirth.

Cheryl now resides with her husband and four cats in Batangas City. If she is not working in her studio, she could either be seen jogging outside, spending time with the cats, repotting her plants, or camping in the nearest mountain with their friends.
