“On the vulnerability and the bond behind support given and received.

We each draw support from the world around us. Yet we often don’t see who or what gives strength to the people in our lives. The grounding companionship of animals is an example of the inexplicable stability that can be given without words, without measure.

In creating art I gravitate toward narratives on beauty, self-expression, and intimacy. My paintings explore beauty and magnetism that lies outside of social expectations. I strive to create an invitation to a vulnerable, yet welcoming, space for the viewer to reflect on their own ideas of attraction and connection.” – Emil Konishi

Emil Konishi is an illustrator currently based in Los Angeles. Born in Nagoya, Japan and raised in the United States, Emil graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Laguna College of Art and Design in 2014.
