In this piece, I wanted to explore painting and artmaking as a form of transformation. As the ear is pierced, so is the canvas, connecting idea and process. The ‘Moon Version’ refers to moonlight informing the colour palette and the use of silver goldwork bullion in the embroidery. – Marek Osedowski

Marek Osedowski is an emerging Canadian visual artist specializing in representational and figurative painting, often weaving metaphor and allegory into symbolist portraiture. Currently working from Edmonton, Alberta, he graduated with a BFA in Art & Design with distinction in 2020 from the University of Alberta and has since exhibited in Canada and across the United States in cities such as San Francisco and Philadelphia.
