About the Artwork:
I’ve created several self-portraits over the years and never more than one in a year. I think that each reflects the character of my work at a given time and functions as a nice reflection of how my style and sensibilities have developed over the years. When approaching a new series of work, I also find it helpful to start with a self-portrait as this helps spur me into action and often lights the direction for the subsequent pieces. – Zach Mendoza
