The cruelty of hindsight lies in its revival of the past. Echoes of clarity, becoming louder with each glance backwards. A great beast, chasing us through haunted forests. A great roar. Reverberating ever stronger with each treading of the same broken ground. Perhaps dredging up these memories to pick apart is supposed to teach us something, to prepare us to be better next time. Maybe this time we will get it right.
