(Artist Bio)
Sam was born in 1988 and was raised in Northern Virginia. He attended school at Savannah College of Art and Design and majored with a degree in Illustration. Once out of school, Sam moved to New York City to pursue a career in freelance illustration as well as gallery work. He primarily works in dry media, such as conté and graphite as well as oil paint. Many of his commercial illustrations deal closely with horror themes and can be found as book covers, movie posters, and album covers. Traditional means of making art has always been a main staple for how he approaches his pieces and what he feels most comfortable in. Although not all of his work focuses on horror, many of his pieces exhibit black and white, foreboding atmospheres with soft edged strokes of the brush and pencil. The subjects of these images tend to balance the anchor of realism and the oddly surreal.
