About the Artwork:
How I speak to my sons isn’t always what they want to hear, it’s what they need to hear. Trying to shape them into honest, respectful, and kind human beings is not easy, and sometimes requires a very firm stance and tone. I didn’t always agree with my own father on things and how he said them, but I know his heart was in the right place. I’m grasping that now that I’m a father. Learning from my past and applying it toward today is being a ‘vintage speaker’.
About the Artist:
When Roland Tamayo isn’t fulfilling his duties as a father to twin boys, he is usually painting about fatherhood and other life experiences. At home is an ever growing collection of vintage cameras, audio equipment, and nicknacks collected from flea markets and garage sales. These, combined with Roland’s love and fascination with sea life, create the vehicles in which to tell the stories in his work.
