About the Artwork:
There are few words that fill me with more giddy excitement and anticipation than reading ‘Rocket Summer’ as the title of one of Ray Bradbury’s short stories. ‘Rocket Summer’, a repeating mantra that opens the famous Martian Chronicles, describes the excitement and wonder surrounding space exploration. Set in a future where rockets are a common aspect of life, the narrative paints a vivid picture of a winter landscape transformed by the heat and light of rocket launches. In that future, propulsion engines are going to be important but also may glaze over our eyes and perspectives blindly trusting navigation systems. – Franc Kaiser
