About the Artwork:
“We can’t choose the ones we have but we can shape them, brighten them, embellish them, hide them, or pull them out completely and replace them with something better.
“Tooth” explores the attachment we have with our past and the thread of duality that is inherent in everything. Birth, blossoming, decay, degeneration, fate vs. free will: it’s all-encompassing.
The balance of life and death, order and chaos, is ever-present throughout my work, and so much of being human is exploring these thoughts through our finite physical forms.
Everything is migrating and transient in that space, all of the sensations, experiences, and everything that binds us as human beings.
This piece is a journey of connecting mind and heart, embracing acceptance, and fueling personal growth.” – Cassidy Rae Marietta

Cassidy is a surrealist illustrator working with ink, mixed media and digital design.
Her concerns are with rich-juicy colors, textures and surface qualities to create life-affirming visual meditations. Marietta plays with a spectrum of candy-colored hues intermingled with ornate design.
Returning themes in her work include the position of women in modern society, sexuality and the role-division between social normality, censorship and the rawness of human nature.
