About the Artwork:

In a ruined and overgrown place, a fearless witch (and her cat familiar) receive instruction from a demon ally. Demons like this one are known to haunt abandoned places; some say they are forgotten gods, twisted by loneliness and jealousy. But such beings possess ancient secrets and terrible powers, and may be persuaded to share them with mortals. The nature of the arrangement between these two is known only to them. And maybe the cat.

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Kit Curry’s serenely apocalyptic artwork draws upon those primordial beliefs — animism, witchcraft, the occult —that modernity and so-called enlightenment have failed to entirely exorcise.

Largely self-taught, Kit developed their art skills by studying the work and writings of the great 20th century illustrators, including that of their great great grandfather Harvey Dunn. Kit grew up around Dunn’s paintings, but not the magazine stories they had originally illustrated; now, Kit’s work evokes that mysterious quality of an illustration without its story.

After working in Brooklyn, NY as a production designer for independent animated films, Kit moved to Massachusetts to focus on fine art, and began exhibiting in 2021. Since then, their work has been exhibited at venues such as Arch Enemy Arts, Haven Gallery, and Berkshire Museum.
