“Having never lived in Iran, I use my practice as a way to fulfil the deep pull to connect to my heritage. Persian miniature painting saturates everyday Iranian life and culture, and the influence it has had on my work has been almost unconscious- having been surrounded by it growing up. With this specific piece I wanted to adapt this traditional style in a more intentional way, whilst continuing to explore more esoteric concepts relating to Eastern philosophies and parapsychological phenomena.” – Nikoo Bafti
