About the Artwork:

“The Hermit is inspired by the tarot card as well as the magnificent crab with the same name. It’s a call for introspection and seclusion in order to reconnect with your own voice and wisdom. It’s an encouragement for understanding your own fragility as well as your strength and using both to guide you forward. In a world of fast paces and an infinite amount of voices calling to get your attention, The Hermit acts as a spiritual mentor for you to find your own path and answers.” – Sophy Fredriksson

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Around the same time I learned to walk, I learned to draw. Both were laborious endeavors, but they also felt equally important. Like my movement expressed my body’s eagerness for discovering the world around me, the pens and the paper were expressions of my eagerness to discover the world within me. Growing up, I’ve done my best to maintain a curiosity for both and my work is often a blend of the two. I am a traditional artist, through and through. My main medium is ballpoint pen, and I like working with my hands and to feel the art grow from under my fingertips.

I started my art career as a tattoo artist in my late teens, and later moved on to scientific illustration and information design, which I have studied at Mälardalen University, Sweden. Furthermore, I have a Master’s degree in English literature. All of these elements can frequently be found in the work I do, in themes as well as style. I am constantly inspired by the complexities of life, the possibilities of nature and the deep roots of our shared consciousness.
