‘Green Man’ by Brian Britigan
Artist: Brian Britigan
Title: ‘Green Man’
Medium: Woodburning on basswood panel
Dimensions: 8″ x 6″
Framing: Unframed
Year of Creation: 2023
About the Artwork:
“This piece began with the idea of woodburning as an inherently monochromatic medium, where both the surface and the mark are made of the very same stuff. With this material-focused approach in mind, I chose to create an image inspired by traditional green man motifs. This centuries-old depiction of the embodiment of nature is meant to celebrate the start of summer as well as the wood itself.” – Brian Britigan
