About the Artwork:

“This graphite drawing is inspired by my curiosity of the small nature events and life and death in nature in general. So many small and big encounters happen in nature amongst the smallest animal inhabitants, and to me it’s a kind of magic, both to experience it and to imagine it.” – Katrin Berge

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Katrin Berge is a Norwegian artist and illustrator living in Bergen where she loves to explore the forest and nature surroundings for inspiration and recreation. As a child she lived by the forest and sea and grew up observing nature in all of its forms everyday, and the fascination for all kinds of animals, insects and creatures of the wild has not ceased to increase. Katrin works with graphite to create images with a high level of detail, mixing together fauna and animals and sometimes leans towards the surreal and dark.

Katrin has a masters degree in Visual communication (illustration) from the Faculty of Fine art and Design in Bergen (2004 – 2010) and is working as a fine artist and illustrator. She had her second solo exhibition in January 2023 in Bergen with the renowned gallery Kunstgarasjen. Nowadays she is working with several group exhibitions and an exciting picture book project about a wood mouse and a squirrel in the forest.
