About the Artwork:
“My painting ‘Once in a Blue Moon’ came to life immediately after I chose the single colour to use for this show. I went with an ultra saturate (ultramarine) blue based off the highly pigmented ‘Yves Klein Blue’. The colour, to me, evoked a calm yet intense feeling and memory. A quiet moment that took place in nature on a cool and moonlit evening. I wanted to capture that moment. A rare and surreal event that felt almost like fantasy. Where all stars aligned, in a sense, and nature’s beauty and magic were truly revealed. Like peeking into another world. A glimpse. It overwhelmed all senses, and time seemed to stand still. I hope I portray that feeling of peaceful excitement to the viewer. Maybe it will remind them of their own rare and magical moment, one that will always live with them.” – Kane Kokaris
About the Artist:
(Artist Bio)
Kane Kokaris is a self-taught artist from Gold Coast, Australia. His paintings are imaginative, stylised and often dark. Influences vary from nature and wildlife, to tattoo culture. He looks to partially tell a story within each composition, giving creatures a dreamlike world of their own. Although most tales are seemingly ill fated, capturing the beauty in the darkest of moments is his main desire. Exposing viewers to images which evoke their own symbolic meaning and encourage them to let their imagination run free.
