About the Artwork:

“This piece is a part of a series where I’m experimenting with water color as an element of texture in the composition. The title Tsumugumono means “the one who weaves” in Japanese. Perhaps one might not win the fight in this generation, but the next one will.” – Reiko Murakami

About the Artist:

(Artist Bio)

Reiko Murakami is a US based illustrator specialized in surreal fantasy art. Her work’s subtle texture effect is created by layering a variety of thin paper media such as tracing paper on top of graphite drawings. Often the image is finished with a white ink drawing of a secondary image that either emphasizes or counters the symbolic meaning of the base figure.
